Wedding Wednesdays

This week I am happy to share the spotlight with Peace Moore  of Lovely Chic Occasions located in New York. She is an event planner who has a love for all things vintage.

Wedding season in New York begins as early as March and April and ends around September.  Despite the weather, a frugal savvy bride may pick the off-season of winter to have a wedding. Even though the winters in New York can be very brutal, a winter wedding can also be lovely. By incorporating details from Christmas along with hints of elegance, you are sure to wow your guest.

For example, the Tartan pattern makes a great statement in a winter wedding because the red and green helps bring out the Christmas season. If you are unfamiliar with the the Tartan pattern it is associated in Scottish culture worn on kilts. The pattern can be worn as the groomsmen’s vest or tie. It can also be the accents used for the napkins, runners or part of the flower girls dress.

In a winter wedding, the colors are very important. A deep wine color can be paired with forest green, champagne and gold or you can opt one of my favorite color palettes which is a wine red, dusty blue paired with merlot and blush.  A light color like dusty blue reminds us of the winter weather and it pairs nicely with a cranberry red.

While the color palette is an important factor in weddings, sometimes it’s all about the details. The details help the wedding theme come alive. If you choose to go without a theme to your winter wedding, you can always incorporate the holiday rituals such as Santa Clause or a Christmas tree to save the day.  Adding accents like a hot chocolate bar to substitute a dessert table is also a great idea.  Or opt to hire someone to play Santa Claus or a Drunk Santa and have your guest take pictures with him rather than the traditional photo booth. You can also place the cutlery in a Christmas stocking instead of a napkin and to top it off add places that are made from ornaments, pine cones, or warm gloves to show your guest to their seats.

A winter wedding, styled to perfection can be as lovely as a Spring or Summer wedding.  Adding the right colors and details  are key, and hiring the right Event Planner is always easy. I hope you enjoyed the winter wedding inspiration!
